The St. Cloud Times welcomes contributions from readers, whether in the form of letters to the editor, or in extended columns we call Your Turn. Our guidelines, along with various ways you can submit your contribution are listed below:

Guidelines for submitting a Letter to the Editor

Letters should be typewritten, signed, and exclusive to the newspaper and be no more than 300 words. Writers must include their name, address and daytime phone number for verification. Those published may be edited for accuracy, grammar and length. Letters to the editor, opinion and editorial columns, and articles submitted to the Times may be published or distributed in print, electronic or other forms.

Your Turn columns

Columns should focus on timely local, national or international issues of concern to people in our community. State your opinion and use facts and well-reasoned arguments to support it. Address points and counterpoints made by the opposition. Be typewritten and about 600 words. Include a paragraph at the end explaining who you are and any expertise you may have on the issue. A photograph of the writer also is requested to accompany the article. Include your name, address and daytime phone number for verification.

Letters to the editor, opinion and editorial columns, and articles submitted to the Times may be published or distributed in print, electronic or other forms.

Some Your Turns may be edited for length, clarity and accuracy. In some cases, the Times may seek a Your Turn from the opposition to provide more complete coverage on an issue.
