As the 5 Under 40 program completed its 11th year, a related awards program was born.

The Times Media 2 Under 20 award recognizes the accomplishments of young leaders who have the potential to shape the future of Central Minnesota.

The call for nominations asked for names of those who had finished their junior year of high school but were still under the age of 20 on Dec. 31.

The winners in the first class of 2 Under 20:

Runners up are Kaydee Ann Miller, Technical High School; Nicole Yang, Sartell High School; and Isaac Logeman, Apollo High School.

All five will be recognized Jan. 19 at the Paramount Theatre in conjunction with the 5 Under 40 awards program. The event is open to the public, and you can find ticket information at http://on.sctimes.com/1YBovz5.

School administrators, counselors, faculty members, home school teachers, supervisors, colleagues or nonprofit leaders familiar with the contestant's work were eligible to submit 2 Under 20 nominations. Last year's 5 Under 40 award recipients chose the winners.
